About ISI AND CMI

Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) and Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) are two of Asia’s foremost institutions for studying, doing advanced research in Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences.

Chennai Mathematical Institute is a center of excellence for teaching and research in the mathematical sciences situated in India. In 1998, CMI took the initiative to bridge the gap between teaching and research in India by starting BSc and MSc programs in Mathematics and allied subjects. Students who have graduated from CMI have gone on to join leading institutions throughout the world. CMI has one of the best Mathematics and Computer science Undergraduate programs in India. It is one of the very few institutions in India that offers dual majors/honors in Mathematics and Computer science and Mathematics and Physics.

Indian Statistical Institute is India’s Pride. It is one of very few institutes that is totally dedicating itself in Statistics along with Studies of Mathematical science. Indian Statistical Institute has one of the most advanced Statistics and Mathematics programs in India. BMATH and BSTAT are one of the most prestigious programs in India.

Admission Test

CMI and ISI conduct two of the toughest entrance exams in the world to select students for their prestigious Undergraduate Programs. Every year graduation high schoolers take a Mathematics exam specially created Mathematical talents. It consists of Mathematical Problems testing students’ problem-solving ability as well as their depth of understanding of mathematical concepts. These exams are compared with Putnam Competitions.

Indian Statical Institute and CMI offer scholarships to the students who are successful in the entrance exam and eligible for admission.
